About Me
Welcome! I'm Rachel, a speech therapist, educator, and prospective PhD student with love of playful learning. I enjoy talking to children about their interests and using those interests to build bridges to communication and curriculum. I am lucky to have a job where crayons, playdough, and glitter are tools for success!
I worked for several years as a speech therapist in the USA, specializing in play-based intervention, children with autism, and AAC. Watching my kids connect and open up through high-tech devices spurred me on to study programming so I could be involved in creating and improving these devices. I joined a research study examining teacher training through technology which brought me to Spain, where I worked as an English language instructor in preschools.
I have spent the last two years living in Madrid, enjoying cultural and linguistic immersion and giving back through teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and participating in MOOCS. I am always looking for opportunities to combine my love of language and learning with my interest in technology to improve lives by bringing wonder and joy to everyday interactions.
